Right at Home | Kali & Zac's Upstate New York Wedding
Kali and Zach’s wedding was the kind of day that could only have happened at home. They exchanged vows beneath the willow tree featured on their custom invitations, then watered a newly planted willow together to symbolize the beginning of their marriage. From the handcrafted details to the family woven into every part of the celebration, everything had a story.
Their vision came to life in a way that still allowed the people they loved to be fully present and enjoy it. You could feel the love not only between Kali and Zach and their families, but through every guest who came to celebrate them. It was intimate, meaningful, and so completely theirs.
The Vision
The beauty of this celebration was that it never needed to feel overly produced. The setting already held so much meaning, so every design choice could simply add to what was already there rather than compete with it. Personal details, thoughtful touches, and the natural surroundings came together to create a wedding that felt warm, intentional, and unmistakably like Kali and Zach.
Planner Insights
Hosting a wedding at home can be incredibly meaningful, but it also means building much of what a traditional venue already has in place. For this Upstate New York celebration, that meant thinking through everything from guest parking and vendor load-in to keeping neighborhood access clear and bringing in enough additional power for the tent, lighting, and band.
But there’s another consideration we always encourage families to think about: Will you actually be able to stop hosting and enjoy the wedding? When the celebration is happening at your home, it can be hard to mentally hand the space over and simply be a guest. Before choosing a private residence over a traditional venue, think about the experience you want for the parents, siblings, and family members who live there, too. The right planning and support should allow them to be present for the celebration, not spend the night worrying about what’s happening behind the scenes.
