Natural Dye Linen DIY

I had the pleasure of working on a styled shoot last week with an incredible team of creatives, and I took it upon myself to dye the napkins myself to get the perfect blush hue. I wanted to use organic cotton and was going for a slightly imperfect dye process so I could get an earthy organic look as opposed to perfect poly blend napkins you can rent or buy from anywhere. It all went with the theme.. and you all know how much I love a good theme :-)

Endless Summer Bonfire Inspiration

This is a long post… but it’s so so good. So read through it all, and be sure to grab the goodies at the end!

There is just something about summer that I love so much. In high school, going to the beach all day and then having a bonfire with friends was my all time favorite thing to do. Besides eating bags of cherries with my bestie while we watched SVU all weekend long, but that’s a whole other story! Anyways, as we we get older and our lives get busier, I began thinking to myself… why don’t we still do that with our friends?! I immediately though of my husband, who would rather not eat cheap hot dogs by a campfire, and my girl friends who are actual chefs/foodies and enjoy eating at nice restaurants with fun cocktails. K+S Eagle Rock Wedding

K+S are such incredible humans. I felt an instant connection from our first meeting. I believe we ended up chatting over coffee for more than 2 hours. It was so awesome. I was beyond honored that they chose me to help plan and execute their wedding day.

Vanilla Bean Lavender Whiskey

I love cocktails. Love making them, love drinking them, love sharing them with my friends. When my dear friend Marlene came up with the cocktail using my favorite – whiskey I practically squealed with happiness. She is such a genius. She was inspired by things that I always have at my house : whiskey (duh), lavender, and citrus. An unlikely pairing you might be thinking… but, it is oh SO good. Even if you aren’t a whiskey drinker – you will love this! It is probably the perfect “end of summer, beginning of fall” cocktail. That’s right. You heard it here first.

Why I Renewed My Vows

Have you ever thought about renewing your vows? Or wondered if it’s too hard or worth it? I did on my one year anniversary (weird, I know) and it was the best decision I ever made. And here’s why:

As a wedding designer/coordinator, I’m constantly dreaming up new scenes and concepts for clients to proclaim their love to one another. It was my job. It was my job now, and it was for years before I got married. I think I struggled in planning my own wedding for a couple reasons. After some serious heartache in my past, I didn’t really ever see myself getting married. and planning events for brides was easier than for myself – turns out. I was so fickle with ideas I almost just didn’t care in the end. I just wanted it to be over. Sounds so negative, I know. I also let others’ opinions of the day take over my own. I felt like it was just more work. But in the end, I had a beautiful wedding and at the end of the day, I got married to a man I truly love – and that’s the point, right? Right.
