Summer 2018 Wedding Trends

We are officially entering Summer Wedding Season and from all of us over at Tasteful Tatters – we could not be more excited! From sand covered shores to color palettes that are bright and beautiful, summertime is the perfect season for a wedding. Include the excitement of summer vibes as you celebrate your special day with your closest friends and family. This summer, we expect to see wedding trends that are vibrant and eye-catching, fresh and lively, as well as nontraditional (our fav!). If your dream wedding embraces the optimism of summer, here a few trends to help you get inspired and excited!

Breezy Chic Wedding Attire!

Light Color Palette

A summer wedding is a perfect opportunity to have fun with your color palette. Think of light blues and pinks when it comes to the bridesmaids’ dresses, as well as ties for the guys. Incorporate bright colors into your decor and have fun with your makeup, too! Sport a bright lip color with a soft, natural eye look to embrace the season.

Lightweight Fabrics

With the weather getting warmer, you won’t need to be bundled up. Play up your summer theme and look at fabrics for your wedding dress and choose something lightweight, like chiffon. You can incorporate lace detailing into your dress, as well as in your bridesmaids’ dresses. Summer is also the perfect time to have floral printed bridesmaids dresses! For your groom and his groomsmen, make sure to pick a wedding tuxedo or suit rental with a light fabric and light color to keep them looking and feeling cool. A linen suit is perfect for summertime!

Say, “I Do” To The Venue!

Garden venue

Summer weddings mean you get to pick a venue that really compliments the season. Take advantage of the warm weather and have your wedding outside. A garden venue is an ideal backdrop for your summer wedding, and you’ll be surrounded by flowers and butterflies for your ceremony. The venue will make for a wonderful location for your photos. You can never go wrong with a beautiful wedding ceremony held on the beach, too! Imagine saying, “I do” with the sound of the waves on the shore.

Open-Air Transportation

Organize special transportation for you and your wedding party! If your town has one, an open-air trolley can be a unique way to get to and from your venue. For you and your new spouse, tack a ‘just married’ sign to the back of a bicycle and ride off together–talk about a cute photo-op!

All The Decor Details!

Summer Decor

There are plenty of ways to incorporate the summer season when it comes to your wedding decor. Display hanging plants around the venue and put flowers in old wine barrels. For your table numbers, potted succulents are a sweet touch. When it comes to favors for your guests, give something like a recipe card with ingredients for your favorite dessert or a personalized drinking mason jar.

Vibrant Flowers

Nothing says a summer wedding like tons and tons of colorful flowers. Incorporate flowers anywhere you can: have flower centerpieces, flowers on your invitations, flower crowns, a petal covered aisle, and even cover the bar with flowers if you can! Wildflowers are perfect for a summer wedding, and peonies, roses, and hydrangeas would make for a gorgeous bridal bouquet. Do some research on in-season flowers for spring and go floral crazy! Don’t forget to include lots of greenery in your spring wedding, too.

Embrace the Weather

Although you might be anticipating the arrival of sunshine, be prepared for a change in the weather. Add a pop of color with a yellow umbrella, which will look adorable in pictures even if it doesn’t rain. You can even wear colorful rainboots down the aisle for a fun look. Don’t let a chance of rain ruin your day; if it rains at your wedding, it’s good luck! You could even put umbrellas around your venue to add to your decor.

A Fun and Filling Menu!

Naked cake

Try something different and have a vanilla naked cake for your dessert. The look of a bare cake is absolutely beautiful, and you can decorate it with fresh berries or your favorite summer flower. The unique look of the cake will wow your guests and so will the taste! For other dessert options, try a fruit tart or a fresh lemon cookie.

Food Trucks and Donut Walls

For your summer wedding, try a nontraditional approach to your reception. Couples are now providing guests with alternatives to cocktail hours with fun and creative donut walls, as well as wedding food trucks that guests can enjoy as they mingle. Don’t be afraid to try a new idea and give your guests a reception unlike any other they have attended.

Some Useful Wedding Planning and Budget Tips

The hottest trend this wedding season is the one you create yourself. From DIY decor ideas to florals arranged yourself, couples are now taking complete control of the decorating for their special day. Save your budget for other wedding ideas (or invest more into your honeymoon!) as you put together yourself the decorating details of your wedding. Always be realistic with your DIY’s and know what wedding DIY’s to leave to the pros.

When planning your summer wedding, the details can start to add up and your budget might not seem like enough to achieve your ideal spring wedding. Look into your options for a wedding loan for a low-interest option to help keep you on track without having to use your credit card.

This summer season, no matter if you are planning a wedding of your own, are in a bridal party, or just attending someone’s big day, take notice of the wedding trends you see. File away the trends and ideas that you like and think about how you can put your own unique twist on them! From unique venues to attire that is your favorite color, there are many ways to make a summer wedding fun and all your own!
