Sarah & Joey : Topanga Canyon, CA

I met Sarah years ago at a birthday dinner. I had never met her before, but she caught my attention immediately. She’s one of those girls who just says what she means, looks fierce in a sexy dress, and is just cool. So, when she called me up about her wedding, I jumped at the chance to work with her! Sarah officially met Joey at a show he was DJ’ing, and after she wrote him on Twitter. Yes, Twitter. And a romance began on the social media interwebs, if you can believe it or not. Sarah and Joey are the epitome of yin and yang, a perfect compliment to each other. I loved their interactions because it was so apparent how perfect they were for no one else, but one another.

Their wedding was set right before Halloween of last year. Sarah loved the season and wanted to draw on Fall elements, without it being overtly “Halloween Themed.” We did however, put together the raddest pumpkin swag bags for the kids, I might add!

We went with a palette of different shades of blue, touches of wood, and cotton, and gold elements. Her napkins were all handmade by the TT team, and we had custom decals made with their initials for each place setting. The florals were all neutral tones with greenery dark golden roses, and sprinkled with artichokes and cotton. I loved to boho earthy tones mixed with the slate and ivory elements mixed in. One of my favorite pieces we created was a moon mural draped in garlands as a backdrop. It was hand painted and then mounted with the garland to create an ethereal piece during the outdoor dinner reception. To top it off, we lit a blue smoke bomb right in front of it for Sarah to have her boho wedding queen moment!

The venue’s onsite heaters are copper! Can you believe our luck. I’m so obsessed, I want some for my backyard!
