Have you guys heard of Feedbands?! This is quite possibly one of the coolest “monthly subscriptions” I seen lately. These once a month deals have been floating around the web for a little while now, ranging from a monthly box of makeup samples, to jewelry, to craft supplies. As with every summer, wedding season is upon us! Now, for me that usually means crazy long hours, glitter all over my home, and a diet consisting mostly of coffee, chocolate, and Taco Bell. But for the normal rest of the world, it typically means you’re mailbox is getting flooded with invitations, you’re blocking off weekends at a time for bridal showers, bachelorette parties, and the big weddings that you are attending. It’s a busy time! And if you are a bridesmaid in one or more of these weddings, you plate is even more full. So when it comes to the smaller tasks, like what gift to give, a lot of times the rush pushes us to simply snag up that Target gift card at the register. Not that there is ANYTHING wrong with that – I love Target, and most brides will appreciate the gesture =) But most would agree that if they could just find that perfect gift, they would rather give that than a card, am I right?

Being apart of many couples weddings, along with being in some of my dear friends weddings is what inspired the flower press gift I’m going to share with you today! This adorable wooden flower press is such a thoughtful gift it is sure to make your bff swoon. Here’s the idea. You purchase the press – be sure to leave the names & date of the bride and groom so it can be customized. Then, after you’ve attended the wedding. Hang on to your bridesmaid bouquet, or stash some flowers from the centerpieces (many weddings let guests take a centerpiece home too) and follow the directions below to press the flowers while the Bride &  Groom are on their honeymoon. When they return, gift them with the press with their perfectly dried flowers on the inside! So thoughtful, right?!

Directions for pressing the flowers:

Separate the pieces of the press by un-screwing the top so that you have the cardboard, thick card stock, and the wax paper. Be sure all the flowers are completely dry with no more water on them.

Choose your flowers to press. You can pretty much press any flower, but some turn out better than others. Separate the flower from the stem and detach any thick base to allow the flower to lay as flat as possible. Also, throw some of the fillers and greenery in there – these turn out great and add a special touch.

Place a piece of cardboard on the base first, then the thicker card stock, and then the wax paper. This is what you lay the flowers on. Then, once you have your placement, place another wax sheet on top, then card stock, then cardboard. You can do a couple layers of this as well.

Stack up the remaining pieces and screw on the top as tightly as possible. Keep in a dry environment to help the drying process.

For most flowers, the process can take 7-10 days. Some are quicker and some take longer – but it’s the perfect amount of time for the love birds to return from their trip =) You can purchase the custom flower press at the Tasteful Tatters Shop along with other great wedding decor and gift ideas. The other day I stumbled across a random Dollar Store on my way searching for a Target (I still use my gps to get to the grocery store haha) – the perks of living in a new city! I decided to check it out, because you just never know with stores like this, sometimes there are total gems to be found =) I found this pack of 4 cork style coasters for $1 and I thought – I could do something cool with these ha. And so they sat in a junk drawer for almost 2 weeks.

So finally, this weekend I pulled out some pretty blue paint and some masking tape and just went to town on those coasters. I had no clue what I was going to do, but I just went for it with a color block style.

To do this at home, all you need is the coasters, acrylic paint, paint brush, and some light adhesive masking tape.

I simply taped off the areas that I didn’t want painted and applied the paint liberally. For a spur of the moment DIY project, I was pretty happy with the results. However, if you are going to try this at home, I did learn a few things for the next time =)

If you are going to try this at home here are my tips:

- Stick to simply designs

- Attempting small details is difficult because the cork naturally has crevices for the paint to seep through

- full let the paint dry if using 2 different colors

- use paint liberally, the cork soaks up the paint pretty good.

I’ve worked with plenty of photo booth companies in my work, and it’s pretty hard to disappoint, but it’s rare I have to pull people away from the booth just to make sure grandma and grandpa don’t miss the cake cutting haha

Snapgram Photobooth is new in the wedding world and they knocked my socks off – so for all you brides to be out there, I wanted to make sure you didn’t miss out on all the fun

If you guys remember my post HERE from awhile back, I was pretty pumped to hear my dear friends Donna & Nailah were hosting another women’s conference, called Renegade. These two are just so awesome, anything they put together is bound to be a blast – and boy, was I not mistaken. I had such a great day, meeting amazing entrepreneur-minded women, eating amazing farm-to-table food, and hearing from some crazy stellar ladies. It was also refreshing to be surrounded with women who weren’t necessarily in the wedding industry. Most of the networking events and conferences I attend are geared toward wedding professionals, but this was for anyone – and I was probably one of just a few who worked in weddings. It was so nice to see some new perspectives in business and I was able to meet soo many interesting women from emmy-winning authors to fashion stylists to video bloggers. I loved it!

Between networking and meeting some fab ladies, I was furiously writing little nuggets in my notebook to take home, and with my big move just a few days after, I haven’t been able to really go back and reflect on those until now. But I sort of like that, now that I’m settled, I have a new outlook on how I do business in a new town & the next steps I need to take to grow. A few key things that I took away from the conference were (my translations – they were obviously said in a much more eloquent way):

1) What are you waiting for?! If you have an idea, don’t wait – go for it!

2) It is YOUR job to create new ways to bring money back into your business – focus on that. Outsource for the other stuff.

3) You NEED to define your ROOT &  your CRAFT

4) I need to surround myself with women who inspire me to do more
